Levi and Nathan had grown up together so much that he counted Nate more as a brother to him that a cousin - possibly even closer than Lucas. He saw the other as he was cleaning the kitchen and smiled a little. "Hey!" He acknowledged. "I thought you would be out causing drama" he teased.

Marni could see the loudest (and tallest) Kenner was trying to do something, a little bit of a smile crept at his growing frustration. She watched him for a couple beats before offering, "performance issues?"
Motioning to the seat across from her, she asked, "do you want some help? Trauma can have an effect on your powers. Emotions give us strength, but it can be our weakness too."

nathan kenner ✦ gabriella garcia // continued from here
Nathan's realisation for the truth had been rapid, uncomfortable even. The realisation that his childhood memories of werewolves had been distorted and his urgency to become a one himself misguided. He'd only ever witnessed it as a curse cast upon his ancestors in reverse -- even now, after the first turn Crescents were no longer enslaved to the moon. Even so, his memories of stolen glimpses of wolves in the bayou had since been distorted and he had been exposed to the unforgiving truth. The version of horror that Briggs had feared whenever Nathan had encouraged triggering. He no longer remembered a celebration – the freedom from a crescent curse of another kind – instead witnessed the fear his friend had held.
After the moon had released Gabi from its unrelenting grasp and Nathan had returned, he'd witnessed the strength now beaten from her. Felt the heaviness of her limbs as she fought to hold herself before he could take some of the strain away. In the aftermath all he'd wanted was to get her somewhere comfortable, to something that resembled home. Anywhere that wasn't here.
He’d taken care with her, first making her comfortable in the car before returning home as she eased in and out of consciousness. He hadn't been living in his apartment for very long and boxes remained unpacked with take out cartons and beer bottles littered all over – but he'd made the effort to clean up as Gabi showered. When she emerged, he'd been ready with a fresh set of clothes so that she could unburden herself of some of the physical evidence at least. He couldn’t do much, but he could offer a safe space. The idea was almost foreign to him, he wasn’t a gentle being – but here, he was. He could be. There hadn’t been much in the way of words shared between them, instead he followed Gabi’s lead, leaving her to curl up in the sheets – eventually having fallen asleep beside her.
He hadn’t intended to sleep for as long as he did either, but he’d exhausted himself through the use of magic. Despite having used the moon for an anchor, the toll now felt excessive. His chest rose and fell deeply with each breath -- restless within his sleep, but he always had been. A weary mind impossible to contain, never truly resting. He began to stir as Gabi began to shift, as if the wolf within him responded to the wolf within her as she intended to sneak out undetected. A move that was usually his own.
His eyes fluttered, breaths becoming shallower until eventually, he was aware of his surroundings. Before he could wake up entirely, he'd heard her voice. His eyes now opening from their half lidded state as he sucked in a sharp breath. “It’s okay” he managed, his voice laced with sleep before clearing his throat and reaching for his phone on the nightstand to check the time.
The light from his cell illuminated their dimly lit surroundings, his gaze capturing hers as a look crosses his features that he’s unfamiliar with. Almost pleading with her to remain. “You’re leaving?” the words left his lips before his mind could protest. Disappointment edging into his tone. “You should sleep too.” Pushing himself up onto his elbows, the sheets fall away from his frame, beginning to kick at them now as though the material felt constricting. He could offer her a ride home – should, but he doesn’t. In doing so would mean he wanted her to leave – he didn’t.
“You don’t –” fuck, he urges his lips into a tight line, suppressing the words. Leaning himself forwards, he ran a palm over his weary features, practically having to force himself to not reach for out. “You could stay. If you want."

Nathan’s gaze narrowed, as if to question whether or not that was a joke. Of all of his cousins, he had always thought himself the hardest to read – although he had competition with Aria, over that one. His head lifted slightly in light of her comment, releasing a subtle breath out of thought “so what brings you to this shit show?"
"Has anyone told you that you're very expressive?" she asked, wondering if she was just keen to people's reactions or if he was that obvious. At his question, she shrugged, "very new, actually, straight out of the packaging," she joked with a small chuckle, wondering if she was being nice enough or if she needed to work on her 'humor'.

Nathan wasn’t a good friend – had never been a good friend, but for Parker he was trying. It might be too little too late, but he was trying. He should have anticipated the collision of their frames, but that paired with Parkers fangs had caught him off guard and Nathan didn’t possess the physical strength to fight it, rage and attitude aside. “Yeah well, when have I ever listened to you?” he hissed back, returning the favor and gripping the material of Parkers shirt as he attempted to give him a stern shove. "You can't just make your stupid fucking threats and then dip."

Levi had been so busy with Marni lately that his time with Nathan and spending time with him chatting shit or teasing each other relentlessly. He had just walked through the door of their room and threw his jacket on the back of his desk chair and kicked out his sneakers at the bottom of his before before turning and falling back first onto the mattress and pulling his phone out of his jean pocket.
Just as soon as it was in his hands, the notification sound went off and a smile pulled across his face which was a tell tale sign that whoever had messaged him was giving him happiness. He sighed contently before tapping away at the screen working on his reply. Keeping Marni a secret felt right for a lot of people... but with Nathan it felt like he was hiding part of himself. Nathan had been like a brother to him since he came to live with Sierra... not just a brother, they were like twins. And Levi had shared everything with him. Until now.

“Dude” Nate groaned as the hybrid shoved him, hopping in place as he fought to maintain his balance “I hate paying attention to anything that isn’t about me, you realize that right?” He was joking. Mostly.
Nathan could sense the tension radiating from Briggs and he felt able to pinpoint the moment that he had attempted to bite his tongue before reconsidering. Nathan knew that their opinions on triggering their curse differed but he understood Briggs' reservations. "Yeah well that part sucks ass, but" sighing, he shook his head within thought "i've been surrounded by wolves my whole life. My mom, my dad even my mum's knucklehead fiancée." The subject had posed a constant 'what if' for him. What if he triggered and felt closer to his father? What if he triggered and suddenly found his place within their world. What if.
"Being a witch is sick and all, but being at a school where I was tossed in with the magic geeks instead of being part of a pack where I was meant to be, that sucked ass."
The promise of lighter antics did cause a shift within his demeanour; or more so the promise of seeing Gemma. Nathans amusement returned and the hybrid rolled his eyes at the others quip, turning himself around to walk forwards "it's probably best for our friendship if you didn't."
"You just gotta start paying attention, that's all," Briggs replied, giving his friend a shove, even as he laughed. He got it. They didn't need to go deep or anything, Briggs still knew if shit really hit the fan he could count on Nathan. "Obviously, your parties wouldn't be half as fun without me."
Briggs was not his mom or Gemma for that matter, so he debated letting the comment slide. But he couldn't. Inevitable or not, it was still a curse. "Yeah, you'd have to worry about breaking every bone in your body instead, dude." He wouldn't make a huge deal of it, but a small reminder was necessary that this wouldn't solve the problem.
Meeting his grin with a wide one of his own, he expected a full night of fun ahead with the girls. "Do you want me to answer that?"

“Yeah, I can see that” Nathan groaned as she stress of containing his frustration became known upon his features. His jaw had since tightened and there was now a vein protruding against his forehead; his physical capability of resisting, proving to wear thin. “Why don’t you try and experience it for yourself, find out.” His heart began to thud harshly against his ribcage as Delainey threw back her head in mockery of him and he could feel the surge of adrenaline course through his veins, causing for his digits to tighten into fists. “I don’t need validation from you, or from the army of jackasses you hide behind.”
Nate's arms shot out at his sides, scoffing as he growled “what else could it possibly be about? protection? That’s really the bullshit that you buy?” The hybrid was grinning at this point, but the smile held no amusement. “You couldn’t give a fuck about humanity, how could you when you don’t even know what it is?” As Delainey stepped forwards, Nathan knew that he should have taken a step back, but pride wouldn’t enable him to. His gaze narrowed, leaning forwards as he towered over the huntress. “Sure" he shrugged, knowing exactly where Delainey was going with this but he wasn't going to give her the satisfaction. "I broke my wrist when I was five. Again when I was 14, then 17. And my leg?" he whistled lowly, feigning thought "twice on the right, once on the left" he forced for himself to release a steady breath, urging some of the tension to flee his frame as he did so "unlike you, I haven't hurt anybody. But go ahead, stand here and tell me, that i'm the monster."
Werewolves, half or full, were some of the easiest to get going. They were full of temper and usually far too prideful for their own good. She was practically reading this instruction manual off the back of a box. "Ah, you see right through me, don't you? They remove our feelings first." Her taunt delivered as though it were a compliment because she knew his little brain was working overtime to try to get a read on her. "They're hardly troubles. Me and my psycho killer vibe make each other very happy." Somewhere his mind had to be warning to him to get out, but as long as she kept talking and taunting, he would stay put and ignore the red flashing light. "I imagine you don't have any troubles at all, a wake of disappointment left in your dust. Must be rather lonely, having feelings and all."
She laughed, her head falling back in the full mockery of him. He wouldn't like that either. "Validation? Oh honey, I validate myself. I think you're projecting." The harder he had to try to get a read on her, the less he'd be watching the clock. Tick-tock, tick-tock, Nathan. So she kept her expression unreadable, refusing a trip down memory lane to where her mother lay. "Does it always have to be about revenge? Or a dead parent, though you already told me while your mind goes there. Is it so hard to fathom that this is about protection? You lot think too much of yourselves, while we, in the OEA, think of humanity. I'll give you a hint while you try to figure out my deal: it's not about me." She took a step toward him, despite how her head had to tilt further back to look up at him, lowering her voice to match his, "you'd know all about breaking bones, wouldn't you?" That was one thing she didn't know yet, if he had triggered or not, but either way, he'd know it. "I'll go to hell so others do not. Can you say the same?"

Despite his efforts, Nathan couldn't expel the tension from his frame. If anything it only felt worse as he continued to avoid Parkers gaze. His head dropped as the other growled, jaw tensing once again as though to brace himself for some kind of physical impact. Knowing that he was deserving of it. But as no hit came, Nate swallowed harshly, a hand raising to rub his thumb against his brow, an attempt to expel some of the tension residing there. "Then let me help. You can't do it alone, so--"
parker hums in response , glad that nathan seems to know that ignoring the other hasn't been the best idea after the situations they were both a part of . the growl that rumbles out towards the hybrid was nothing short but annoyed , resisting all urges to reach a hand up and slap the taller man into the next week . turns out that nathan kenner was right ... all monsters can be made from more than one way of life . the oea would pay , even if it killed parker in the end . " i want them dead ... all of them . "

The defeated sigh was signal enough that Nathans work here was done and despite being a complete ass, he did intend to hold up his end of the bargain. The hybrid watched with satisfaction as Nova began to scribble down the code in her notebook and as she did so, he reached up onto a high shelf and pulled down the roller blades in question. But didn’t hand them over just yet. “How do you know that?"
There was a quirk of an eyebrow before a sigh. The nurse took out a notebook as she wrote it down. "031478." Nova wrote down quickly. "If you need to remember it's White Day and March 14th." Nova paused. "It is also someone's birthday." She muttered. She looked up with an eager grin. "Can I have the roller blades now?" Nova said with an exasperated sigh.

Nathan’s gaze narrowed and a subtle smirk formed upon his lips, he wasn’t one to hand out compliments without a price and so shrugging, he taunted “verdicts still out.” He watched carefully as she began to make her move and whilst he both looked it and acted like it, it was a surprising revelation to know that he wasn't stupid. Aliyah was a new face and she was comfortable enough in her surroundings to not be a tourist and based off of first impressions alone, she wasn't supernatural. Any humans left who hadn't been recruited by the OEA had timid personalities. They simply weren't cut out for fighting a war, but he could see straight off the bat that Aliyah was. "Go ahead" the hybrid stood himself up a little straighter as he gestured towards the table, picking up his beer in the process "let's see what you've got."
it was only after the money was tripled that she gave him a smile. "that's more like it." then with a shuffle, exchanging her grip on the cue stick from one hand to the other and then reaching into her bag to match him. "like what you see?" aliyah queried. "now that that's been settled, i didn't just come over here for you to look at me." she made her intentions clear, her eyes quickly darting to the pool table in front of them.

"What can I say?" Nate quipped, a smirk tugging at the corners of his lips "I'm a giver, Saltzman." Nudging the menu closer, he tapped one of the pictures and grinned, "knock yourself out, then we can talk business."
lizzie couldn't help but let a slight smirk fall over her features in response to the next words that nathan had spoken. ❝ a burger and fries? nathan kenner, you spoil me. ❞

Turning to face Xavier with little but amusement upon his features, Nathan quipped "is business really that bad that you're having to bribe clientele?" Not before having plucked a beer from the others grasp however. "Never said I was against it."
"Drinks are on the house tonight," Xavier muses, grin forming against his lips as he steps outside of his nightclub with a handful of beers. "You down or nah cause I'd hate to have to drink all of these on my own."

Nathan didn't respond well to feeling threatened and even though his magic hadn't been entirely accurate as of late; he wasn't above using it for protection.
The hybrid turned around, visibly irritated as the frame of the other closed in on him. A flick of his wrist was all that he needed to push Evan backwards using magic as he finally turned to face him with an accusatory expression.
"Wanna tell me why you're following me?"
New Orleans was now full of dark figures in shadows and wondering who was friend and who was foe. At least when he left, there was an aggrement in place between the supernatural factions in the twon, but now outsiders were after everyone.
He walked behind a male for a few moments before turning and soon finding he was near another person sucking through the streets. However soon his senses picked up on another behind him who was now on the tail of both him and the person in front.
His wolf senses were able to distinguish different species and he was ready for the attack. The last time he was caught off guard his sister had killed him - and now he was back living and seeing threats in everyone.

For the first time of the entire evening, Nathan felt a complete sense of calm fall upon him. As if the commotion of the room had now faded into silence, into complete stillness. His eyes remained trained upon Gemma's own, captivated entirely as he found himself leaning into the hand that rested against his chest. He wondered if this was how it felt to be completely human, unburdened. To be able to concentrate on one emotion at a time and that emotion not being rage.
His digits continued to toy with a strand of her hair, forgetting himself for a moment; which for him was usually impossible.
Had he been making his rounds of the room a little too freely just to get a rise out of Gemma? ... Maybe. It was immature on his behalf, but in his eyes it was far less humiliating than actively having to discuss his feelings. Nate was conscious to map each feature as he simply took her in, his gaze eventually falling towards her lips. Each was already committed to memory, but he would never begrudge himself stolen reminders.
A breathless chuckle followed, his shoulders rolling as he mused "high praise. You know that's going straight to my head, right?" Still, his gaze followed hers and as she spoke he felt a pang of discomfort stir within the pit of his stomach. "You know" his voice dropped to a low, but playful whisper "you too could be having fun" his hand had since dropped from her frame, before he held it out towards her "wanna dance?"
As his fingers traced against her necklace, grazing against her collarbone between each jewel, a large lump formed in her throat. Her hand slipped from his shoulder to read against his chest, her fingers toying with the lapel of his jacket until his hand moved to her hair, pulling her eyes up to meet his, her lips tugging up into a smile.
His words caused her stomach to turn in the most confusing way possible. The more time she spent with him since her release from the prison world, the more her feelings confused her. Being in the prison world seemed to have cleared her mind as to what she wanted. Or rather, who she wanted. But since her return, everything inside her screamed otherwise.
When her heart fluttered any time their gazes met, her brain screamed at her that he looks at every girl this way. Each time their skin brushed and it sent an electric shock through her, her brain fought against every urge her heart had to let their touch linger. Every time saw him flirt with other girls, a fire burned in her stomach hot enough to consume her alive. She could still feel the heat from seeing him dance with another girl just moments ago. But all he had to do was look at her she she was like putty in his hands; and she hated it and loved it all at the same time.
His words caused a small chuckle to fall from her lips, eyes rolling lazily. “Well, you look great. You clean up very well.” She commented as her eyes trailed over his suit, her tongue darting to trace against her lower lip. “You, uh…. Look like you’re having fun.” Her eyes darted to the dance floor with a glint of jealousy that she attempted to conceal.

"nice one, nate." he scoffed, shaking his head with a lazy smile on his lips. when it came to his cousins, he took on a lot of responsibility because he wanted them to feel safe enough to act up. as for him, he could handle the fall out. "just remember this the next time plan a fails and you come to me needing a spot for $50."
"You asked, no takebacks" Nate shrugged, as though to prepare his cousin for the judgmental opinion he would undoubtedly offer. "If virgin is the look that you're going for" he patted his cousins shoulder "then the bow tie's just fine."
